Why tinnitus isn’t just an ear problem

Tinnitus is often described as sound in the ears - but the experience is shaped by more than hearing alone.

It’s closely linked to how the brain and nervous system process sound. When the system becomes more sensitised, the sound can feel louder, sharper or harder to ignore - particularly in quiet moments or when you’re tired or stressed.

Over time, this can create a pattern where your awareness of the sound increases its intensity, and the intensity makes it harder to switch your attention away from it.

Many people are told they simply have to live with tinnitus. But while we may not always remove the sound completely, we can work with how your system responds to it - and that can make a meaningful difference to how it feels day to day.

Tinnitus affects more than just hearing

Supporting calm, focus and nervous-system regulation

Living with tinnitus can gradually affect more than just your hearing.

You might notice it becomes more prominent at night, making it harder to fall asleep or switch off. It can impact concentration, increase tension, and leave you feeling constantly aware or slightly on edge.

This is often linked to the nervous system being in a more alert or reactive state.

Acupuncture works gently with the nervous system to support regulation and reduce overall reactivity. As the system begins to settle, many people find the sound becomes less dominant, less intrusive, and easier to live alongside.

The aim isn’t to force change, but to reduce the overall load on your system so it can respond more steadily.

How acupuncture can support tinnitus

A calm, structured approach - tailored to you

Treatment follows a simple, supportive process that adapts to your experience over time.

Catch
Recognising when your system becomes more reactive - whether that’s linked to stress, fatigue or environment

Calm
Using acupuncture and body-based support to reduce sensitivity and help your system settle

Clarity
Supporting your brain and body to respond differently, so the sound feels less overwhelming

Each session is personalised and adjusted based on how your symptoms present and how your system responds.

Testimonials

Here is what some of our clients have to say about us:

It's not magic, but it sure feels like it.
After months of debilitating pain and countless physio appointments I booked in with Nancy. The straight forward and confident nature that I was met with instantly led to a bit of relief.

The actual relief I have received after her treatments has made me feel indebted to her amazing practice. Nancy is clearly at the top of her field.

Highly recommended!!

December 2025

I've been going to Nancy for a few months now for acupuncture, and even after the first appointment I noticed a difference! Her calming presence and knowledge really put me at ease during the first appointment when I didn't know what to expect. It's great that Nancy can tailor each appointment for whatever is niggling at me!

September 2025

I originally contacted Nancy for acupuncture to relieve stress induced pain and tension in my neck and shoulders caused by a sudden upheaval in my personal life. However, our sessions evolved into a combination of talking and acupuncture as Nancy guided me through me thoughts and worries. This really helped me find clarity in a world of confusion.. topped off with such a relaxing acupuncture experience.

I’ve never previously admitted to seeing any value in talking about stuff but I now can’t recommend this enough. So much so, I think I will continue sessions from time to time to brain dump and de-clutter my mind from the crap picked up in day to day life. ❤️

October 2025

I’ve been getting acupuncture with Nancy for a few months now for migraines and I’ve noticed a real improvement in my symptoms: they’re less frequent since I started seeing Nancy, and are less painful when they happen.

Nancy is great, couldn’t recommend her highly enough: I was a bit unsure about trying acupuncture at first but I’m so glad that I did. I’m looking forward to my next appointment.
